Default Overdoing it

A lot of people push themselves way to hard when lifting...this can actually be counterproductive. Unlike cardio workouts, lift workouts need to be done in moderation. If you lift too much weight or overwork your muscles too much, small tears can form (especially if you don't allow for enough recovery time). I'm not saying to work less hard, but be careful and know your body's limitations.

Yep - its a good idea to have at least a days rest between each weights session aswell. This way your muscles are having a chance to rebuild themselves. You will see better results by doing this and also reduce the risk of injury

Or you could rotate between upper and lower body each day, give half of your body a rest. I would only suggest this if you really enjoy working out daily.

Its still important to have at least one day of a week if you do thi though. Otherwise you will never be at 100% and your body will not be recovering properly between sessions.

Overdoing it is never good, mostly it's because people want to boast around and they put too much strain on their muscles this way. It's better to lift a small weight alot of times than to lift something heavy only a couple of times.

You guys bring up a great point. Do not over do it. A lot of times, if you do, your body will be too sore for days, and you won't be able to train. In those days, you'll be eating, and you'll gain all of the weight back.

On top of that, it isn't healthy for your body, and it isn't healthy in general. Do what you think is right, but don't try to impress anyone.

One should never ever overdo it. Rest is the third most important part of weightlifting right behind nutrition and actually lifting weights.
