I like using my body weight - inclined press ups and using a ball to improve my core stability when doing normal push ups, sit ups etc.. You can get a really good work out this way.

I have a problem doing pullups, mainly because I don't have a bar to do it with, I have to use a tree branch outside with my bar hands and it really tears my hands apart(making them all red and stuff) and burns afterwards. I should probably just go to a gym or get a bar or something, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

to fully utilize my assisting training scheduale (my MA classes etc) i hit the gym frequently and my routines consist of a variety of workouts to target specific objectives- Strength, Core Strength, Work Capacity and to fully achieve these objectives one must use a mixture of weight excersises and bodyweight excersies aswell as polymetrics and iscometrics. These help me become the best combat athlete I can be.

one of the best things a fighter of any discipline can really gain from weight training is explosiveness. do your reps fast and hard, put alot of emphasis on moving the weight or your body as fast as you can. a great excercise to work into your training regimen is the clean and jerk and the powerclean. both will translate well as raw explosive power that is key for strong, fast kicks, knees, shoots etc. it will improve your overall standup game immensly.
