Default New to the game

I am pretty new to the fighting game. I have been active in sports all my life and right now I feel I am in the best shape I have ever been in. I am about 6 ft 180lbs. My first Grappling match is coming up on December first. I have been training in MMA for about 5 months now and I am very confident in my abilities. I feel comfortable at 180 but I seriously want to fight at around 169-168 for the tournament. I am training 5-6 days a week. cardio, running, cycling, weight training, I am doing fast training on a heavy bag, punching mitts not to mention the hours on the ground. Are there any tips for dropping 11 pounds within a month? Any tips overall? I will be entering the tournament in the beginner division which is 6mos to 2years background. I could go to the novice which is 0-6mos, but I want a challenge.

When do they do the weigh in for the tournament? You can lose that much weight in 1 day depending on what kind of shape your in already. Sauna suite and biking in a sauna will get rid of ALOT of water weight. 10-15lbs is not uncommon. It is however very draining on your system and if your weigh ins are the same day as your fights I wouldn't bother. If they are a day before then do it and as soon as you get off that scale start rehydrating.

Well I moved to SC from Ohio, and the tourney is in Ohio. They have weigh-ins the night before on Friday but I will just be getting into town around 6pm friday night, so I will be weighing in early Saturday morning and fighting around 11-12 in the morning. I would rather lose the weight over the course of the next couple of weeks and work off of that.

I wish I could help, but i've never really had to cut weight.

I'm sure if you have a good old look around the internet you will find something, maybe even post on a fighter known for cutting weights website, ask them how they go about cutting weight.
