Default WTF Tae Kwon Do vs Muay Thai Kickboxing

I was searching YouTube today and came across this movie:

I think it demonstrates quite well how Tae Kwon Do is not a useless martial art, like some people seem to believe. Watch it and tell me what you think.

Tae Kwon Do is far from useless. However, it can be difficult to implement in MMA. Stefan Bonner has a 2nd degree black belt I think, he certainly has fantastic strike.s but keep it mind he utilizes his kicks because he is a golden gloves boxer...Look at it like this, if it was the best striking art to use, everybody would use it. unfortunately people who know nothing discredit the art, when it really is an awesome art

I just watched the video, the kicks are always flashy, and you have to be careful. Throw fancy stuff like that at a wrestler or anbody with takedowns...you are in for a long night

It's OK. I'm still not a fan of Tae Kwon Do. It's very flashy, and if you watch the video, the Muay Thai guy has absolutely no guard, no defense, and just eats all of his kicks.

Try putting that guy against someone a little bit better, and we'll see how Tae Kwon Do does. That Muay Thai guy was pathetic. Absolutely no reaction, no speed, and no guard. It was obvious he'd lose and get embarassed.

Sorry, but Splinter's right. That muay thai guy had no clue what in the world he was doing. The Tae Kwon Do guy looked decent, but still a little bit sloppy and "too flashy". Against a better fighter, he'd have no chance to pull off those kicks.

Wow, that guy had no idea what was going on. The kicks were pretty impressive though, but his opponent..wow, what the hell?

Yeah. Tae Kwan Do isn't useless at all, in my opinion. I took it when I was in middle school. It protected me from the bullies.

I don't see how any forms of mma could be useless. Some might be more useful, but all of them are useful than nothing.

Both of them are pretty bad - but I guess its just that the Tae Kwon Do guy knew a little more. I doubt he'd be able to take any of those flashy kicks into a ring in a better fight and expect to pull those off.

Interesting video...

I agree with all of the above statements... although here's some more food for thought:

The video was highlights of the TKD guy only. If you put The Karate Kid against somebody and showed only his strikes, he'd of course look good too..
