Default Kimbo Slice

I don't know how many of you know who Kimbo is, or have seen any of his fights. But wow... does he have heavy hands. He's training with Bas Rutten and fighting in Elite XC, and has had 3 MMA fights, 2 won by some pretty hard punches, and the other by guillotine. Hopefully in the future, he will impress people and be signed to UFC, could be some great future match ups. Lesnar vs Kimbo anyone?

I won't be jumping on any form of Kimbo Wagon but he's taking the game seriously training with Bas etc.

He obviously hasn't been challenged yet, but he's new to the game so that will come in time. Against Tank he showed heavy hands and some good head movement. I look forward to seeing him fight a contender some time soon. Gary Shaw is trying to make a super star though so it may be a while untill Kimbo fights a good wrestler.

Agreed Jamie. He hasn't beaten anyone worth while, until he beats a decent B level fighter then I really can't respect him much as a fighter. He beat a washed up boxer with no bjj, and a slow moving out of shape old man. If he wins his next 4-5 fights against decent competition then i will respect him alot more as a fighter, but I NEVER think he will reach the ufc. Lesnar would destroy him if they were to fight.

Most definately, Lesnar would eat him up. Beating Tank really doesn't prove a thing. Tank is a non-issue in the MMA world nowadays with 1 win in his last 9 fights i believe going back to 1998. Good grief.

Now people are tossing out guys for him to fight next. Ken Shamrock, Antonio Silva...dude. As old as Shamrock is I still think he would sub Kimbo and Silva would humiliate him. Kimbo has a long way to go, not saying he has no potential, but IMO he's not ready to even crack into the top 30 yet.

All that aside, Kimbo is a fun guy to watch fight. He's definately not afraid to put himself in danger to get a KO, and a guy like that rarely puts on a boring fight. I doubt he'll ever be a top tier fighter, but you don't have to be if you put on exciting fights, people will tune in.

I disagree with you guys. Kimbo has shown alot of improvment over his 3 fights even though they were against easy fighters. You guys have to remember that he was in alot of street fights, much more than just the ones you can find online.

If you take a great street fighter and train him professionally, then that man will be dangerous, i guarantee.

Kimbos down side is this. He is old and he has very little ground game. I think he is 38 or something like that and we all know it take years of Jui Jitsu training to be good at it. Other than that i think he will do very well, but like you guys said, he deffinetly does need some big wins before he goes anywhere else.

Nah he's 34, and I agree that he isnt top tier yet, but he still has good potential. All those bareknuckle fights made him one tough son of a bitch who isn't afraid to get dirty. Oh well, just keep an eye out for him in the future, KO's are always exciting

They need to have him fight a great wrestler/BJJ guy and see what he has. Elite XC is smart tho and cashing in on him because he is marketable. And he's not a bad striker by any means. But to say he's going to be an amazing champion is a little much. Kimbo is lucky tho to be a HW. Their careers last longer, so he has some extra time, and the grappeling is easier to learn that great striking. Buuuuuuuut he wont fight for the UFC Belt any time soon (and aside from Fedor and now Couture, they have the best HW's....maybe you can include barnett)

i think he has offers to fight either buenttelo or ken shamrock for his next fight. imo these are of too low level opponents if he wants to prove anything. i dont know exactly how big of a hw he is but i am sure if he dropped down to lhw he could find himself alot more big name fights

Now Gary Goodridge has come out with comments about Kimbo and wants to fight him.
IMO Paul Buentello or Goodridge would be great measuring sticks to see how much he's come along.
Chances are Kimbo's management will milk his fame and keep feeding him 'name' cans like Ken SHAMrock who has 3 wins since 1996 and none of those wins are any good.

it makes sense from a promotional point to have him fight ken because he is a name and will raise kimbos profile more then fight buentello and then they can up the levels and give testing fights but i think they most probably will throw him in a title fight
