Well, not really, Diego. Nonetheless, it’s good to get some sort of update on the “Nightmare” and squash rumors that he would dip down to lightweight (155 pounds) after two straight defeats.


I really have a lot of respect for Diego to stay at 170, but at the same time i think he is a little hard headed. Im not forgetting about the fact that he has beaten a bunch of quality opponents in some what impressive fashion. But as we saw in his fight against Jon Fitch his size will play a huge factor. Staying at 170 only allows him to be a Gatekeeper and a contender but never a champion. If he drops down to LW the matchups are endless and his also has a legit chance at maybe one day fighting for the belt.

I'd love to see Diego at LW. He's a great fighter as it is and every fight is exciting to watch. Just imagine him fighting the likes of Huerta, Guida, Griffen, Tavares, Joe Daddy, BJ and Sherk.

seriously i would have much rather heard that diego is dropping to LW but what ever

Diego is a little soft at 170 and he always has been. And if he dropped to 155lbs he'd be facing the likes of Kenny Florian who he destroyed in their first match up, and Kenny has been on a terror since then. Now Kenny may be a much improved fighter but I think Diego is improved as well. The good news is I hate diego and if he stays at 170 he'll never be a champion unless he pulls a Serra.

haha word. that will be the ONLY way i see him being champ in the division within the next 3 years. even in that time span though you have to consider that if he doesnt become champ and the UFC still markets him alot he would be losing a fair amount of fights. i dont care for diego necisarily but i would be a bigger fan of his if he dropped down and beat the hell out of kenflo, joe daddy and huerta
