Default Wanderlei Silva vs Rogerio Nogueira PRIDE 33 *confirmed*

http://www.tatame.com.br/2007/01/04/...dois-cinturoes

rough translation

Here is a rough translation
Badly the year started and Rogério Minotouro already traced its plans and of its family for 2007. “I believe that he goes to give all certain e I am ready to conquer the cinturão. I am trained and very prepared well for this fight with the Wanderlei Silva. Already the Rodrigo, with this gone of (Mirko) the Cro Cop for the Ultimate, it can be the challenger of the Stench, e thus we will be able to invoice the two cinturões in 2007”, it believes Minotouro, that still it commented the victory of Minotauro in the Pride Shockwave, on Josh Barnett.
- The Rodrigo made an excellent fight. I confess that we were all apreensivos, pois como era uma revanche, ele não podia perder.

This is going to make a great fight and one of the first deserving title defences I have seen in Pride as of late. Rumors of wand vs henderson just didn't seem like an interesting fight and it seemed like pride was trying to increase the interest of american fans by bringing american fighter...that just DOEs NOT WORK. However glad to see that it didn't turn out that way and Wands facing a deserving opponent.

Well at least it's a fight worth watching!

Even though I wanted to see a rematch with Henderson

Well, that reliable source looks to be wrong.

Looks like he's fighting Hendo. I'm sorry but the PRIDE matchmakers have no idea. They try to break America by using all the American fighters they have. The people that turn up to the PRIDE shows are normally MMA fans, not drunk UFC fans. So why they don't give the fans what they want, I have no idea.

The first fight between these two was great to watch, as I'm sure this one will be. The rules will play into the favour of Hendo as Wandy can't head stomp or soccer kick.

I'd still rather see him fight Nog though.

Cool, to be honest I didnt mind who Wandy was defending his title against, I like Lil Nog and Henderson.

But my predictions for this fight is...

Wandy via Split Decision, On the account that I dont see any of these fighters being able to put one another away. Will be a good fight tho, the first fight was good. If Henderson wins I think it will shoot him into the lime light, Im not saying that he already isnt in the lime light amoung MMA fans but not alot of people really know who he is or what he's about, whereas silva has a huge rep. If u know wot i mean.

Yeah some times the match makes just make terrible decisions, its all to make more money, IMO like you said most drunk ufc fans probably know very little about little nog or henderson so it wouldnt really matter who they put in America but to true mma fans we know who deserves the title shot and Hendo is really not in that position.... but all in all it will be a good fight

i would have much rather seen the much deserving little nog fight silva but oh well.. i love hendo he's a great fighter but to be honest i think this ones gonna be a lot like the first one but hopefully silva just comes out like a beast all pumped from the last loss and ends it faster.
