Default does anyone else miss pride ?

i don't know about the rest of you but i for one miss pride. what the hell is going on with it. it seems dana has picked out the fighters he wants and signed them to the ufc, but where does that leave pride. i'm starting to wonder if there even is a pride organization anymore. i haven't heard of any events or news from pride. so is pride dead ? or is it still going to be an organization ? and if they do keep pride running it will most likely be shit because dana has taken away all the top level fighters. not to mention the rule changes, and the fact they won't fight in a ring anymore. i just wish they would have left pride exactly the way it was. like they say " if it ain't broke don't fix it " what do you guys think ?

I agree Pride was a great show with great fights but, as of right now I would have to say yes Pride is dead.

PRIDE was cool and all, but their 10 min. 1st rounds are lame. if the fight ain't a toe to toe war then the 10 min round becomes boring and useless.

three 5 min rounds are best

Lethal, you obviously havent watched many Pride events. THe 10 mnute first round is awesome. In most every fight for the frist minute r 2. sometimes more fighters are trying to get the feel for everything. With a 5 minute round that only leaves 3 minutes left for fighting while with the 10 minute first round it there is still plenty of time after the fel out process.

As for lying around it just doesnt hapen very often in Pride. Fighters are always busy on the ground and if they just lay their like they do in the UFC then they get yellow cards which deduct a percentage of the fighters pay.

There is absolutely nothing about the UFC that was better than PrideFC. PrideFC was classy, like a martial arts show. the UFC is a room full of drunks watching cage fighting.

The UFC knew that PrideFC was such a better product that if they didnt buy them out and basically cancel them, then they would lose all hteir fans to PrideFC.

Well not lose them, but i know when i first started watching MMA years ago i watched nothing but UFC. Then i heard about PrideFC, i thought it was so gay at first. I didnt like the ring and thought the fighters were crap. THen i gave it a chanceamd i watch a few events and i started to love it. THe 10 minute first round, kicks and knees to downed opponents, better ring entrances more pyrotechnics, more knowledgable fans, much better fighters and all around jsut a better show in all areas.

I cant imagine that Pride will ever be hte same if it does come back. I don't think its possible for Zuffa to put on a show the same calibre as Dreamstage was able to do with Pride.

Well I'm not quite as eloquent as you Rob, so I couldn't have said it better myself.

I was flipping through the channels today and caught the tail end of the Fedor/Cro Cop match on FSN and just kinda sighed. Pride was such an amazing organization. I can't even really put my finger on what it is exactly, just something made it seem more "MMA-esque" than the UFC does. I know that sounds wierd, and don't get me wrong because I love the UFC and I'm excited that we will be able to see a lot of the fights that we have been conjuring up forever, but I'm just sad to see Pride getting wiped out.

So to 81supporter, yes I definately miss Pride.

Robert i couldn't agree more.

Lethal, You obviously didn't watch to much pride or mma for that matter, the 10 minute rounds showed displays of skill to the fullest extent, showing fighters durability, cardio, and heart...i have no problem with 5 minute rounds, but to say 10 min rounds are lame? you obviously dont know what your talking about.... now defend yourself for more then 3 sentences....

I do watch a lot of PRIDE, they show them all the time on FSN and I check them out on Dailymotion.

I know they get 10% of their pay deducted if they don't work, but that doesn't stop them from not doing anything lol. I think people get too caught up on the finishes. Take Jackson-Randleman, boring ass fight. I expected it to be a great fight, but they just hugged each other the whole time. ref deducted pay and they still held on. it wasn't til Jackson landed that first knee and multiple knees after, that it became interesting, but the fight was stopped.

cro-cop/randleman is another one that was basically the same way, randleman holding cro cop, letting go and both of them moving around for 2 mins before randleman gets bored and knocked cro cop the fuck out.

Ya'll act like PRIDE fighters have god-like stamina, I've seen them get tired after a few min. I've seen fighters gasping for air and there is like 4 min. left in the round...

10 min rounds gives fighters the option to "feel out" their opponent for 3 fuckin minutes(with a little bit of grabbing here and there) and then start trading for a few seconds and/or they start the ground game, lay and pray, and then back on their feet. look at each other for 1 min and round is over...

Randleman-Fedor.....Randleman was the one to push the action after 30 sec. of staring. Fedor did two things throughout the fight(punches, kimura)

PRIDE's earlier fights were so drawn out...PRIDE Total Elimination 2005 was boring imo besides Gun and Page...

the crowd sucked ass too, unethusiastic crowd. two guys fuckin each other up = Japanese crowd = "ooh"

with 5 min. rounds it forces fighters to do what they get paid to do and what ppl watch it for, to utilize their skill, cuz if they don't then they will get booed and lose the decision/round.
