shockwave 2006 dec 31st UK showing
Hi , firstly id like to introduce myself to these forums, my names dan, im 21 and im from bristol in the uk. Been browsing for some time now, as i've only recently started taking an interest in pride, ufc ect (mainly pride) as a spectator.I don't as of yet do any martial arts or anything, but im trying to get into shape atm. I guess im kinda slender but working to increase my body weight ect. i did kickboxing for a small while, but was busy with work ect, so im gonna try getting back to it, but i wanna get into better condition first. I wouldnt call myself a fighter, but id liek to get into the shape, so i can better defend myself if i eve needed to, so many assholes in bristol, that think they are all that, and act like dicks, im just like servering in a bar, and someone takes a bottle from behind when im not looking, and threaten to smash me with it if i try anything or get security on them, yea i get intimidated, but only as im not a big as them.. But anyways, it was after a video i saw of cro cop, and various other pride fighters, that it got me interested in checking out these mma championships in a little more detail, watching vids of various fighters ect. soon discovered the greatness of fedor ect, see many of his fights on sites ect, and find him, and cro cop inspiring athletes. i know im never going to be like these guys ha, but watching them has made me want to try and imprive myself, and have a go at maybe a ground martial arts, eg. ju jitsu ect. See what happens i guess. anyways cheers
what i wanted to know was how can i view the pride events as im from the uk, can i get them here via pay per view ect, if so what channels or channel can i see them on. Id very much love to watch shockwave 2006 on new years eve in the comfort of my living room with a nice cold beer, and see cro cop and fedor kick some arse ^^

Welcome to the forums.
I got into MMA kind of the same way as yourself, started off with the UFC and then the internet got me interested in PRIDE, I've watched many highlights etc, but then I watched my first event at "The Real Deal".
Unfortanately, i'm not sure whether we get upcoming PRIDE events over here, I'm aware that Eurosport shows PRIDE but the events are a fare few years old.
The Real Deal event I downloaded off a torrent site, that's the best way to get the complete events over here, although it's a day later, I just don't visit any MMA sites untill I've viewed it. Youtube aswell, you can normally get the fights on their a day or two after.
Hope that's helped.
Cheers, Jamie.

Its funny i just found this now after 5 months go figure but yeah, I dont train im just a huge fan and ive only been a huge fan for a little over a year now but by watching every mma ppv event since then and watching fights on youtube i have caught my self up to the rest and there isnt a day i dont read somthing new on mma or post on the site. I cant wait to see what the future holds for mma.
Im only 17 to so training could be an option its just the time and money which i have none of.
Welcome new members its a great site!

Money isn't so much an issue un less you plan on travelling to train. Time I think tends to be more of an issue when training...if I were 17, I would be training still - too bad I moved out when I was 16 and had to fend for myself - I had to quit traning at 18 and still had 10+ years under my belt
I know if I were 17 again, and no money with time - I would be doing BJJ.LoL.
