Default Ever trained in weapons?

Has anyone ever trained in weapons for their respective styles?

Personally, I've never had the pleasure of doing so, but I would love to learn and love to try. Its very interesting whenever I spectate a tournament on television or in real life, and someone is out there tearing it up with a butterfly sword or a straight edge...

I love the butterfly sword. Its beautiful and deadly at the same time. Best combination ever

I have gotten lucky and got to train in a lot of weapons.

Broadsword
Staff
Double Broadsword
Flute
Fan
Chain Whip
Disogee
Three sectional Staff

And some others. I normally just have to look at my wall to remember it all.

i went on some weapon training courses and was awarded for them. I have used many weapons such as bow and sai. I am also trained in the regular weapons such as nunchaku, the katana and tonfa.

I always thought the sai looked really cool. How hard is it in your opinion to learn?

to be honest it wasnt that hard to learn, it was tricky at first to handle with the shape but one you get your head around it, it isnt that hard

my preffered weapon of choice is still tonfa or nunchaku
how about you ?

Three sectional staff is my weapon of choice... But when it really coming down to it and if I ever had to use a weapon. I know I am more like to find something that i could use as a spear or staff.

I trained briefly in Kobudo using:

Sai
Bo
Nunchaku

Excellent experience, very practical and useful knowledge to pick up. Much preferred to standard more general styles.

It's funny you mention the Butterfly Sword. I am trained in that, as well as the staff, the spear, and the short sword.

Butterfly sword is an amazing weapon and was definitely my favorite to learn. Staff and spear were very similar. But with one significant difference. Spear is very "wild". There is a lot of swinging and movement (so the pointed edge strikes and slices more opponents) while as the staff is all about power and strength (in my opinion).

The butterfly sword is deadly, and I've seen it in its best form from a female Shaolin master.

Simply amazing.

How hard was the Three Sectional Staff to learn? I too have some experience in spear and staff. Im almost certian i will have time to train another weapon and the Staff looks very interesting.

I'd always fear hurting myself while training with weapons, spinning them around and stuff, don't you guys ever get afraid of like slicing your arms off or something?
