Default What makes a good fighter

hi im new to the community and I"m starting to get into UFC buzz. I want to start training for mma fighting. I have no prior MMA training but i do have a pretty strong build and want to0 become a better fighter:P. Anyway, so im considering training but i don't know where to start.

The ufc game can be divided into two major components:ground game and stand up game. I want to start on my standup game, what sub catoprogry of MMA should i work on first and why. What else should i consider. Maybe if imn into it'll ill work on my ground work afterwords. Btw im 17, 5'7 and 160lbs,

best best is to find out what Gyms you have in your area and what they offer.
Living in a big city allowed me to train at an MMA gym but because I was A: older (over 30) and B: had back issues throughout my adult life, I chose to train Muay Thai and skipped the BJJ. I did it for the fun and exercise and it was great.

If you're gonna do stand up, Muay Thai or Boxing is the way to go. Ground game it has to be BJJ and wrestling.

Most gyms will give you a free class to see if it's for you so take advantage of such offers and go to several gyms if they are in your area.

oh and to make the transistion easier, start training cardio right now! I was/am outta shape and whew it hurt the first few weeks LOL.
