Default UFC 74 salary report

These are the fighter salaries that were reported by the UFC to the Nevada State Athletic Commission for this past weekend's UFC 74.

*Sobral only received $25,000 of his $50,000. The other $25,000 was withheld by the NSAC.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Randy Couture $250,000 W Gabriel Gonzaga $45,000 L

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Georges St. Pierre $140,000 W Josh Koscheck $10,000 L

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roger Huerta $34,000 W Alberto Crane $4,000 L

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Joe Stevenson $32,000 W Kurt Pellegrino $8,000 L

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Patrick Cote $24,000 W Kendall Grove $12,000 L
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Frank Mir $66,000 W Antoni Hardonk $8,000 L
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Renato "Babalu" Sobral $50,000* W David Health $6,000 L

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thales Leites $18,000 W Ryan Jensen $4,000 L
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Clay Guida $14,000 W Marcus Aurelio $30,000 L

the reason i find this interesting is that when you consider that the main event was for the most prestigious world title in MMA the salaries are no where near Boxing salaries for an equivalent fight and was wondering is the salaries will ever be able to reach that level??

Cheers for posting these.

Can't believe the amount some of these guys make, it's embarrasing.

I was suprized to see Koz making only 10k a fight. Randy signed a straight up 1mil 4 fight contract, but he got paid a lot more to fight Chuck Liddell in 2 out of 3 of their fights. Oh well.

MT thats 10k for a loss. He would have made more had he won. I cant see how these guys can make a living doing this sport right now though. To see somone who lost get paid double than the guy who beat him is pretty fucked as well.

I agree, but thats how contracts work. Im pretty sure the way the UFC does it is, if you win the fight then your purse is doubled.

so then in the Couture Gonzaga fight Couture's contract was for 125,000 no matter what, and if you win you get double. In Gonzaga's case he made 45,000 and would have gotten an extra 45,000 had he won.

I think in this case it should be whoever wins gets the extra 125,000. i.e, in the Guida vs. Aurellio, instead of Guida only making 7000 for that fight and that getting doubled for the win, he should get an extra $30,000 because thats what Aurellio would have gotten had he won.

just my opinion though.

He signed the deal when he was a contender I think, therefore he still gets the big pay day.

It's like when Rizzo was coming to the end of his contract, the UFC expected huge things and he didn't deliver. I think he made around 200k for a fight on the undercard.

It annoys me that fighters still get payed shit but if you look at it in a different perspective its a great thing for the sport.

Fighters will continue to fight there hearts out because they need that win bonus at the end of the day and they will fight each fight with a lot of heart.

If fighters began to receive millions like other sports it could really go to there heads and the sport like boxing could have a down fall but who knows. They still deserve to get payed more than a lousy 4,000 dollars for a fight atleast make it 10-20 regardless of win or lose, i mean some of these fighters have family and need to put food on the table, with 3-4 fights a year at 10-15 thousand that a very small income.
