Default Locks & Holds

In Atemi-Ryu Ju Jitsu it's common to use floor locks and holds after performing a sweep, a throw, or any kind of take-down.

Arm bars and reverse shoulder locks are some of the most effective after leading a hip or shoulder throw (for me at the moment).

Do any of you have any favourites?

Default Pressure Points

I've been learning how to use Pressure Points as an effective 'tap-out' catalyst when training and sparring in Ju Jitsu.

When you have someone in a lock after getting them to the mat, do you like to use pressure points (carefully) to enduce a tap-out or submission?

take the top of your head and push it just under someones cheekbone when they have you in the guard. They won't know what the hell happened

I don't know any 'formal' pressure points...but nothing beats an elbow in a sensitive muscle like the shoulder or thigh.

My issue with using pressure points to endunce tap-outs or submissions is that if its not done properly (which is hard in an intense fight) it can cause permenant injury or death. Yes i know the sport has its risks, but this can potentially be over dangerous.

Overly muscular guys suck...I HATE grappling them...and God only knows beating the crap out of em isn't easy either. ;-) Thank God that most of em are slow.

Yeah the heavy guys are usually slow to punch and unless they have some amazing endurance they will tire very quickly. Just play around with them a while, don't let them knock you out and let them tire down.

I can't really say I support pressure points. I believe its starting to be widely deemed illegal in the fighting rings, but I'm not to sure. Can someone point this out for me?

I support pressure points and all other techniques that disable your opponent. I wish more MMA competitions and the UFC would support these techniques, but they don't. The main reason they do not permit pressure points (along with wristlocks, eye jabs, small joint manipulations, etc.) is that if they did, matches would be much shorter and that would be bad for business.
