Default Punching Bags

Hey guys,

Does anyone have any thoughts as to how good the different punching bags are? I mean I've used Peanut Bags, Heavy Bags, and Speed Bags, but I haven't used training dummies, or small bags with water bases, etc...

Anyone have any good ideas on a punching bag, with a water base, or one that fills with sand? I'm leaning towards a Heavy Bag with a steel rack, so I don't have to hang a speed bag and heavy bag from the ceiling.

Let me know your expereinces/thoughts please...

i would say a heavy bag with the steel base would be best. i had one of those bags you fill with water or sand, and it sucked. it always tipped over and after a few weeks the base started to crack and leak water. those bags are only good for women doing tae-bo and shit like that. by the way, how is your training going? mine has been ok, but i've been slipping for the past couple of days. i have to kick myself in the ass and get myself going again.

I've used sand base bags and dummies (with sand bases) and like grawl said, they tend to fall over. Also with the dummies its easy to tear a hole in the neck or face then the head tends to go all soft and floppy.

In my experience the best bag ive used is a long bag, with the bottom resting on the floor. reason for this is 'cos with long bags u can do low kicks and its also great for punchin. With the bag resting on the floor it will represent a person standing. Also it will prevent the bag from swinging. In my gym all our bags are hanging on bungie ropes so if they swing they also bounce, and hit the floor, this also prevents the bag from swinging too much. (not a long piece of rope just, about a foot or so, but ull need a long piece of bungie rope so u can wrap it in the chain on the bag and then onto the rack a couple of times)
