Default Building Cardio

Have any of you done any of the cardio kickboxing classes? There is one at my local gym and I have thought about trying it out. Looks like it might get kind of old fast though. But also looks like it could help keep my cardio up.

I am training in KickBoxing at the moment. I haven't really done any "cardio kickboxing" but if I were you, I would just train in kick boxing in general. Let the work out and training be your cardio for you.

Kick boxing is a very physical sport that'll definitely build your lower body strength. It's helped me out tremendously. I went from being able to only lift 175 on each calf, to about 275 now on each calf alone.

My shines are strong as ever, and my legs are bulked and ready to go. My lower body is very tone and muscular now, and it's because I was motivated to bulk up my lower body because of Kick boxing.

I'd recommend it.

Thanks for bring that up. I just looked in the phone book and looks like some one teaches kickboxing a few towns over. Anything I should try and work one before I start?

Well if I remember correctly, you are already training in Kung Fu. I think you should be fine for now. If you feel the need to practice something, I'd just concentrate on the lower body, specifically the kicks.

Let me know how it all works out for you if you end up booking lessons for KickBoxing.

I've taken part in a few not long ago, but to be honest it's a really bad combination. Cardio is cardio and kickboxing is kickboxing. It's hard to focus on technique when it's mixed to rigorousley with cardio.

I found it great. An excellent way to build fitness and stamina levels and perfect and speed up your kickboxing technique.

kickboxerkid - I see how you mean, some techniques get sloppy in CKB, but they only become as sloppy as you let them. Mind over matter, my friend.

Is it 1 hour of non-stop movement? The problem with alot of kickboxing classes is that they take breaks, which defeats the purpose of cardio, non-stop movement for a long period of tim e.

What is Tae-Bo? I've never heard of it before. I've never tried kickboxing myself but im sure it could potentially be very effective.

The bottom line with Cardio is that you have to push yourself unbelievably hard. My motivation is that it's easy to get to the point where you're tired (most people stop there)...but you can really take advantage of your workout by working yourself when you're exhausted because every thing extra you do helps so much more.
