He said something on the lines of the UFC fighters have no talent at all. Boxers are the greatest fighters in the world, and you put them in the UFC they would run through the competition and probably beat the champion within 10 seconds.

Some real dumb shit from an uneducated wanker. It's all hype from Mayweather, he knows as well as everyone else that he will never step into the cage. If I was Dana i'd offer Mayweather a challenge, i'd give him big money to fight Sherk, release this to the public and press.

Mayweather will then look like he's a little punk that is scared to fight in the UFC after talking a lot of smack about it and the fighters.

Yeah, Dana did offer Mayweather big money to fight Sherk. But he wont even acknowledge the offer because he doesn't really want to fight a UFC champ. Just like a UFC champ doesn't want to fight a boxer by boxing rules. It's just dumb hype by mayweather.

Mayweather is an amazing fighter. But he should keep boxing to boxers, cooking to chefs, shit talking to the uneducated and MMA to the real fighters.

Did anyone who watched the Mayweather fight last night catch Jim Lampley's comments about MMA after the fight? It was to the effect of "While Mixed Martial Arts can be entertaining, you will never see the level of skill there that you have seen in here (the boxing ring)". Seems to me that boxing is really scared of MMA if they need to take time in their PPV to bash MMA.

I for one dont see why we cant have both. MMA and Boxing are totally different. The only thing is the UFC gets huge PPV buys while boxing is nowhere near as popular as it used to be (rating wise).

I for one think that if all MMA were to be in a ring instead of a cage and there were no elbows allowed on the ground (to prevent the blood baths the UFC often has) that MMA would have a better reputation to those who still see it as a spectacle.

The UFC tries to take martial arts, which is about respect and honour, and turn it into 2 guys fighting oneanother in a cage. To top it off the arena is packed with obnoxious drunk fans and the pre fight videos of the fighters are always the same. Fighter A is better than fighter B, Fighter B respects fighter A as a fighter but wants to hurt him blah blah blah, and so on, lol.

To me though Dana doesnt help things by going on TV and swearing his ass off saying Fuck in every sentence.

I for one still enjoy watching boxing though. As long as the fight is a good one. not much of a fan of Larry Merchant or Jim Lampley, but then Joe Rogan is much worse. Hopefully the announcer for the UFC on HBO will be someone good.

the Mickey Ward vs. Arturro Gatti fights are all amazing fights. Number 1 and 2 are better than their 3rd fight but still, Watch them if you havent seen them.

Boxing can still be entertaining of coarse! But to say that MMA fighters don't have the skill level of a boxer is insane. If anything they have a higher skill level. They train boxing, Kickboxing, Wrestling, and others.

And the fans that go to see boxing are far from proper and prim citizens. They are the same people screaming for blood while pounding beers in both crowds.

Boxing is borring to me now really. I mean I have seen a few good fights, The USA vs. UK contender fights were actually really good! But other than that there are just too many leagues, belts, and question marks in boxing for me to care. Sure there are a ton of smaller leagues in MMA also, but in the states it's Pride and UFC that brings the most crowds. Shrug, I just think MMA will remain to build popularity while boxing will always exist, but slowly keep losing it's fanfair.

Hate to say it but this argument is little more than a pissing match. Mma and boxing are two completely different beasts. The only way a completely unbiased comparison between two fighters from each style could be made is in a street fight. That way the two fighters could be comfortable using the fighting skills they are used to. And ultimately WHO CARES!!! I realize these arguments are not going away any time soon. But they never seem to amount to anything. Having said that... lets continue the debate(just to be annoying)! I don't think a pure boxer(meaning no other martial training) would stand a chance against an mma practitioner. First unless the mma fighter is a total noob they will cover their head before shooting in. Thus they will almost nullify any chance for a boxer to knock them out on the way in. Now while both parties are on their feet and if the mma practioner is smart they will have taken up kickboxing, Muay Thai, etc. The mma fighter should then set up a kick after a simple punch combo. Boxers avoid strikes using any three methods. One is to cover but that requires throwing the correct block. Two dodge, the best defense to a strike is to not be there. Three is duck. That is the boxers fatal flaw against an mma fighter. If the mma practitioner throws the simple punch combo and the boxer ducks the boxer could be setting themselves up for a nasty kick to the head. Anyone remember Liddell vs. Sobral 1? Yes I know Sobral is a wrestler but the point is still valid.

Default Boxing v. MMA

This is obviously a biased and limited question. Boxing has been around for years--decades. The concept of any sport to triumph over another is unrealistic. For instance, what rules are being incorporated? Boxing over MMA, or MMA over boxing? Any MMA fighting against a boxer with the rules of boxing will obviously have the boxer win the fight, even an average MMA fighter! However, when the tables turn, it is true in the same case with the MMA fighter. Boxing, due to its racist tenants of MMA fighting, is under attack by the trend within sports. Boxing is clearly cleaner; opposed to boxing is the sloppy form of the ephemeral MMA stylism.

Hands down, boxers are cleaner, tougher, and last much longer in the ring than the fighters in UFC and, or other MMA fighters.
