Default I get to train Kick Boxing with Kultar Gill tonight

Revolution fight team has a gym in my town and i recently decided to instead of play football this year try out kickboxing and Jui Jitsu. Also Kalib Starnes trains at the gym. Im quite excited and hope all goes well and that i dont suck total ass, lol.

I know most of you have probably never heard of Kultar GIll but he has fought in K-1 and TKO. I am 22 so the chances of me going pro are slim but more than anything i want to get back into shape, and Kick Boxing seems likea good, and fun, way of doing so.

I know a few of you guys train Muay Thai and Kick Boxing, what do you guys think. Is it better to learn lots and become a great fighter before you actually fight against someone? or is it better to get good and become great by getting actually fight experience?

you can train for years and never get the same experience that a fight brings. Until your in the ring and your swinging at someone trying to knock them out, and they are doing the same to you, your training is NEVER going to show you where you really stand or what you will really do. Plus in your training there should be "Smokers" were you get to fight people of your skill level. a year in kickboxing is all I took before I had my first fight, and I won by KO first round =) but by all means get the fight experience.

Thats awesome. I was actually thinking of joining Champions but its a little ways away from where i live. Revolution just opened a new gy in my town and the lesson was awesome. Unfortunetly Kultar has an injury and cant train so i didnt get to see him. I did well for a first time, my kicks are good but my hooks deffinetly need work. I think im more than a grappler than a striker but its still fun. If youd like to show me some stuff sometime we could probably work something out.

When you have never trained kickboxing the thing that got me was the breathing. If you dont breath whilst punching and kicking you get so out of breath.

It costs $100 a month which is kind of expensive i think but the trainers are good and it is a known team. Should be fun, im looking forward to the MMA and Jui Jitsu classes also.

Yea 100$ isnt so bad... do they have weights and stuff there or is strictly for training? What are the rules about attending classes.. is there a maximum per week or is it just show up and train? Kickboxing all about rythm and like you said breathing and learning how to put your body behind the punches and kicks instead of just using your arm or leg power. Makes a huge difference.

Robert what is your height and weight? I am 6'3" and right now Im around 200-205 but when I am activly training I go up to about 215lbs.

Wow, I go down when I'm actively training. My stats are 6'0 170lbs and I fight at 160 =) good ole wrestling is great for teaching you how to cut weight and still be able to compete. I pay $125 a month so $100 is a bargain to me! lol. I train at Master Toddy's in las vegas NV. He's pretty renound for kickboxing and Muay Thai. So maybe thats where the extra $25 comes in lol. Breathing is everything man. It really is. And make sure you take big relaxing breaths in between your rounds. I don't know how you do it there but we have a trainer named Master Nop, and he likes to skip the 1 minute rest between rounds. He says it builds stamina, Really it's just punishment I think for him thinking your not giving 100%. Cause when I'm about to go puke he sure gives me that 1 minute rest lol. Thursday we did 5 rounds (3 minute rounds) of roundhouses to the heavy bad with no breaks. Then we did 2 minutes of jab/cross and ended with 100 teep kicks with each leg. It was horrible! Gotta love Muay Thai.

No doubt, when I start training again, I''ll feel lieka bag of shit. Other than that, I'll be ready to go :

I'm 13-1 in street fights though, does that give me street creds...LoL....

Laugh kinda. You've got the street creds. But it's really different when you fight someone and rules are involved. Other than that TUF show and a few of Kimbo's fights I've never seen a street fight where people abided by any form of rules. Even with my training now if someone wanted to fight me on the street I'd bite, eye gouge and nutt kick I think lol. Shrug. Different rules require different skills
