Default Shannon Briggs - Sultan Ibragimov

On June 2nd, 2007, WBO Heavyweight Champion Shannon Briggs is going to face Sultan Ibragimov.

I am looking forward to this bout as I am a huge fan of Briggs and expect him to have very little trouble with Ibragimov who, in my opinion, has a questionable chin (Lance Whitaker hurt Sultan with his right hand) while Briggs is one of the, maybe the, hardest punchers in today's heavyweight division.
Sultan's coming-forward style will play into Brigg's cards who proved to be an excellent counter-puncher against Lyakhovich some months ago.

I gave up watching boxing long ago. I guess the fast pace action of MMA has really tainted my ability to watch people jab around with big puffy gloves for 12 rounds. When boxing was the only Combat sport on TV (besides WWE and the like) I would watch. Now however I really cant be bothered. Every time I watch a Boxing match now I keep wanting to see leg kicks knees and elbows lol. Not to take anything away from boxers but I just dont have the attention span for it anymore.

It's a matter of taste. There are still fast-paced boxing fights, but I guess your expectations changed with time.

Very true and to be honest I like watching the smaller faster fighters more than the Heavy Weights. Roy Jones is a good example of an entertaining boxer. Hes flashy, with fast hands and has charisma.. boxing needs more of that for sure. Watching Tyson in his prime was awesome... to bad there isnt anyone like left and to bad he went coo coo lol.

I see Tyson as being the best boxer of all times. And I agree with you, the man had deadly speed (among other qualities).

Well, I respect Jones' skills but am not a fan of him since I am much rather a fan of relentless power punchers like Tyson, Abraham, Lacy and Brewster.

I agree and thats what is missing from the HW div now. To many fights are just to large guys pawing at each other and hitting each others arms cuz their hands are to slow. Tyson had amazing hand speed and could litterally win a fight whenever he chose to. The fact that neanderthal 7" guy cant even really box and was champion just goes to show how sad the HW div really is. I miss the days of Lennox, Tyson, Holyfield....

A lot of people are unhappy with the state of the heavyweigth division, while I am mostly unsatisfied with matchmaking. You mentioned Nikolay Valuev, and I agree that he was not worthy of a title, I had Donald beating him and the Ruiz fight was also extremely close. But let's look at his opposition: Monte Barrett, Larry Donald, Jameel McCline, ... good fighters but in my opinion far from elite.
Samuel Peter, Lamon Brewster, maybe Tua even at this stage of his career, would have crushed him.

i am also a big tyson fan. or at least i was, because he aint doing much now. i think jail and his ex wife fucked up his career. he was great up until all that shit started happening. he will always be known as a great boxer, but lately he has become a sideshow. he is always in the news, but it is for stupid shit. such as biting holyfields ear off, getting that tattoo on his face, being in the wwe, being bankrupt and other useless shit. if only he could of kept his shit together, he may have been known as the best boxer of all time.

True. Only b/c Lennox retired. Otherwise he'd be on the canvas another 4 times...LOL. Loved that fight from 97'.
